Most of our ski days go off without a hitch.

We head to our favorite mountain thinking of the great day of skiing we are going to have, the friends we will ski with and what the best run of the day will be. We don't head up to the mountain thinking "What will go wrong today?" But, we should be prepared and knowledgeable about the things that could go wrong.

Believe it or not, we participate in a dangerous sport. Dangerous in the fact that anytime and every time we ski, the potential of injury is pretty high. It could something simple like a fall or something a little more serious like being hit by another snow-rider, being stuck in an avalanche or getting to close to a tree and falling into the tree well. We should always be aware of the potential for danger and know what to do in case we find ourselves in a serious situation.

Unfortunately, there is a skier is missing at Crystal Mountain. At this point, they don't really know what has happened to this experienced skier, but the searchers are focusing on Tree Wells. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the lost skier.

Please read on. There are two linked articles below. One that highlights the search efforts for the missing skier and the other on what to do if you find yourself stuck in a tree well.
