The Cascade Prime Timers is a non-profit organization of mature people fifty years of age and over who enjoy the camaraderie of skiing (& other activities)with friends who share a spirit of adventure. We realize and promote the benefits of recreational activities and mental stimulation for a healthy and enjoyable life style.
The club is run totally by volunteers. We have no office or telephone. On the last Monday of almost every month there is a social evening with a speaker, hors d'oeuvres, and no-host bar while catching up with current club news. Prospective members are always welcome at one of our socials to see us in action. The membership year runs from May 1st to April 30th. Our membership is about equal between couples and individuals. Also, we are evenly split between men and women.
Although we are basically a ski club our activities are varied. Participants are equally divided between alpine and nordic skiing. There is also an active snow shoe group which meets in the winter one day a week. The summer program depends on volunteer leaders' interest and usually includes two campouts, an active kayak/canoe group and an annual picnic. In the past it included rodeo attendance and white water rafting. In Spring, Summer and Autumn we hike on Fridays, ramble on Mondays and many Bike every Wednesday. In addition the club has several informal groups such as an ethnic dinner group and bridge group.
In principle, only Cascade Prime Timer members can join trips and events.
Members pay annual dues to finance our non-trip activities. -- Our application for Tax Exempt Status and our non-profit Tax returns are available for public inspection by contacting our club President-- We contribute a portion of our dues to worthwhile mountain groups such as the Northwest Ski Club Councils Scholarship fund, Friends of Timberline, Silcox Hut, Shriners Hospital Children's Ski Therapy Program, Special Olympics of Oregon, Mt. Hood Cultural Center & Museum, the Tea Cup Lake Oregon Nordic Club and the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol.
